ETC Light and Stuck in Limp mode.
My name is LaMina and I have an 08 Dodge Dakota SXT 4x4 Extenda Cab. Okay so the day that this started I was at a hotel and I needed to bring a friend home. When we got to the road his house is on the whole road was under construction and since he's the only house on that road he forgot to tell me that there's no actual road you can only get down the road so far so then we had to literally take the field approach through the back 40 to get up to the door because his dad is disabled well anyway I did that on the way back I kind of missed where the trail went cuz it was getting so dark and I ended up Bajaing a little bit and having to put it into four wheel to get out and then I made it into town to the speedway and I stopped to get gas and as always my lights were on for like 2 minutes too long and my battery was dead because the battery was crap. I knew I needed a new one. So I went into the gas station and I asked the attendant if there was anybody there who could jump me the guy comes out and he was all worried because he thought that his car wouldn't be big enough to jump my truck and he said cuz he had a Lithium-Ion battery it was a really nice car don't know what kind it was and I told him he probably shouldn't jump it not because of my truck but because of his car unless he knew what he was doing anyway we dropped my truck it was fine I go to leave everything's fine until I get to the actual exit of the speedway and I lost all throttle no pedal whatsoever, the truck did not kill, it stayed running, and it was running enough to idle at about a mile an hour back to the motel so I parked it at the motel then I got a ride out to my RV then I came back so everything I looked in the ETC light was on which means electronic throttle control I have a 2008 Dodge Dakota SXT 3.7 l extended cab 4x4 now in these dodges there is no throttle position sensor there is but it's housed inside the throttle body itself so everything I learned on my own about the ETC tells me to take my throttle body off check if it's dirty first, so I did that it was caked with carbon dirty as heck, but I cleaned it up really nice really good about a new gasket then I put some gasket sealer in there put the throttle body back on so then it's still not working, still dead pedal so I buy a new accelerator pedal position sensor which is the actual whole gas pedal assembly itself so I put that in there still nothing so then on a Dodge you can do the codes with the key so I run the codes and it's coming up with code 2127 and the ambient temp sensor, which fine to find out was actually broken. which is the accelerator pedal position sensor circuit low or circuit e low or something like that and so what I did was I took apart all my fuses just to make sure they're all good file them down put them back in just to make sure that they were connecting good I've checked almost all of the wiring harnesses they all look good it's still throwing the code p2127 ETC light remains still in mode no pedal response. Car still starts it runs it heats up just fine it'll sit there and idle forever I can move it in idle but now all of a sudden and I don't know if it's just because it snowed and it was parked at the motel for so long but I can only get it to start moving by momentum in four low it's squeaking really really bad almost like the e-brake is stuck right but that has nothing to do with it I don't believe since it's still throwing 2127 for the code so what I did after that was I took out my PCM put dielectric grease in all the pin housings just to make sure there was a good strong connection there but when I took off the PCM I noticed that where it grounds to the vehicle it was corroded pretty bad. So I brought it in and I brought the ground wire in and wire brushed it all down made sure it was all nice and shiny so connections were good did the same thing with my negative battery cable which it already started to corrode and I just bought a new battery an ambient air temp sensor and put them all in. I let it sit with cable off all night and then tried to start it and it's not throwing any codes like that it's still throwing the code for the pedal position sensor right but there's still no throttle it's just dead pedal stuck in limp mode, etc light is still on I've done the freaking pedal accelerator position relearn on it I've done everything that the forum say to do. I'm almost at a loss here so the other day I'm sitting in it and it said that you couldn't effectively do the relearn unless there was enough gas in it right so I limp it up to the gas station I put some gas in it and I get it back and I'm just sitting in there letting it warm up to do the relearn cuz it says it's supposed to be at normal operating temperature Wheels front-facing forward everything turned off nothing turned on or running and then to turn it off and then do the relearn. I did that. Still same scenario, no codes though anymore. So I'm sitting there and it kills. I check the codes on the dash and it is stating p0685 and p0688 the ASD relay and the oil pressure sensor. So I checked the oil and it's low and the dash is just saying change oil change oil so I put more oil in it it's got enough gas in it I let it sit I go out there again the next day starts up just fine and now it only says p2127 I let it run and then it kills and then I go to check the codes again and it says p0685 and p0688 again so now it's back and forth with just that still dead pedal still no throttle still etc light is on and I don't know what to do.
