That's the old way, the install instructions have been different for quite awhile now. The puck goes inside the strut and preloads the spring, supposedly a few people with 4x4 reported bind issues the other way. I have a set on my truck right now installed inside the strut, it's a good kit.

hmm i was unaware that does seem like a pain lol and ive never had any binding issues had mine on for 4 years now and i talked to rough country about there leveling kit they said 2wd and 4wd struts are different sizes any idea?? i think they're the same
