It's the end of the line for the 'Dak'
I guess Dakota had to be dropped to make room for Fiat 500. I have been driving Dakotas for 10 years now. I did a thorough search for my second truck purchase and still ended up with a Dakota. The size was just right and the V8 closed the deal. Ram is too big for me and compact trucks were just too small. Ironically, I am beginning to see a lot more 08+ models around town. Chrysler never pushed the Dakota. You could hardly see any on dealer lots. Oh, well. Enjoy them while you can.
That would be awesome!
Check out this article, they mention Dodgeforum.com!

And this Dakota looks awfully familiar.

You're not the only one so it's a little early to declare a win.
Well it's Chryslers own fault the Dakota is a ghost of it's former self.
They had to make it too big, and too expensive, almost overlapping the full-size Ram,
not to mention they beat it with the ugly stick.
They need to re-design it back into the small fun-size truck it used to be, bring back the regular cab shortbed model, with the new corporate V-6 as the base engine, and bring back all those cool colors and models like the Sport and Stampede, etc.
And do something about the damm quality control too!
Currently, the best selling truck in this category is a Toyota!
That just sucks!

Best selling maybe but the Tacomas are not what they used to be. One of the guys I went to high school with got a newer one and had a ton of issues with it. You wouldn't catch me buying one, that's for sure. If I had to buy a midsize truck once the Dakota goes out of production it would probably be the Frontier.
Well, here she is, the last Dodge Dakota off the assembly line at the Warren truck assembly plant in Michigan.
Ain't she a beauty!!

You mean make another Ranger? To me, Dakota is a mid size truck. It is just the right size. I agree that price wise it did overlap somewhat with the Ram.
