I am an old man and set in my ways.
I am not too lazy to use a key to unlock my doors.
Fortunately I do not have the stupid alarm system on my 2011 Dakota.
My question is:
Can I just take the battery out of the key fob and operate my doors and ignition like man was intended to do?

 

You can purchase dealer keys without the remote on them separately instead but would not recommend removing battery as chip in the key wont allow vehicle to start because it will loose its programming

 

If you pull the battery, your truck should run for 2 seconds and then shut off. So pulling the battery is definitely a bad idea.

Update:
I just had to see for myself, so here are my preliminary results:
Test 1) Battery removed and circuit board in key fob=works fine.
Test 2) Circuit board (still without battery) removed from fob and placed approx. 40 feet away=works fine.
I got an idication of a low tire and was wondering if that was caused by the lack of the circuitboard/battery, but turns out it was the tires. They were consistantly low from the dealer at 29 psi. I inflated to 35 psi and the idiot light went off.
I wonder if they do that on purpose so the thing will ride smoother during te test drive.
