Actually, NO aluminum head engine is immune to it but some seem to drop the seats at lesser over-heat temps than others. From what I'm reading, the 4.7s are about THE MOST unforgiving as 220'ish seems to be enough...

I'd have to wager that sometimes **** just happens. My first 4.7 in a 2000 Dak went 250k miles withouth any mechanical issues. Even drove from Mobile, AL to Atlanta with a leaky radiator after a rock nailed it on the interstate.

Had an 03 RC with a 4.7 that went 150k miles when I sold it. No problems with it either. Both of them still ran like raped apes.

Its not just aluminum heads. It can happen with any head that has pressed in valve seats vs machined.

Dropped the seats in my Cummins a few years ago. Made a real mess.
