Default Not a Dakota, but.....

Finally found something decent for a good price. Could not turn it down. 1997 Ram 1500 SLT Laramie 4x4, 160k on the clock. Fresh rebuild on the transmission. Motor (5.2L) sounds good, no ticks, no smoke no leaks. Paint needs some work (clearcoat peeling, bed scratched up), interior is dirty, but I think it will clean up nice. Got a big ol dent on the tailgate too. Its got a small lift and running 33x12.5 tires on pretty corroded aftermarket steel wheels. Pretty much just what I was looking for. Not a daily driver, but it's a truck ans it is still a DODGE!

Guess I'll head on over to the second gen section.

cool , congrats.

i had a 99 with the 5.9,that body style is one of my favorites.

but mine had the rear doors that make you open the front door before you open the back ones & that was a pain trying to get kids out of car seats in a tight parking spot,& it was verythirsty at the pump.

but you could always paint it gray & be like chuck norris in Walker Texas Ranger, lol.

got no small kids anymore. I know these are gas hogs, but it is not my daily driver. Just a "spare" truck. Gotta have a truck...lol

Amen to that, trucks are where its at,lol.

Now that the kids are bigger & I've got a gas sipper , I wish I had kept the 99 since it actually has some aftermarket support.

That generation RAM is a tough looking rig & if your slick blue dak pics were any indication,I got a feeling you'll be polishing & throwing the mojo on the RAM soon .
good luck with it .

Congrats, glad that you found what you were looking for. It's a good looking truck and I'm sure you'll have fun tweaking it to your liking.
I'll be staying tuned in on this.

Thanks guys, it was because of this board that I wanted to stay with a Dodge. I looked at chebys, furds, nissans, even a mazda, some very nice and reasonably priced, but in the back of my mind is was...it's not a Dodge. Just hope I didnt end up with a turd...lol

Save yourself a lot of time and trouble, and get the plenum plate/bolts replaced as soon as possible. If you don't, you'll end up with bad oxygen sensors, clogged catalytic converters, and other various issues (not to mention less power and worse gas mileage).

I'm going to check and see if it has been done first. Seems to run real good.
