Default Oilin' the door

So, my passenger door started squeaking/groaning... according to the manual it says to use mopar motor oil and it seemed to get rid of the sound (I took a half bottle of oil I had left from my last oil change and a 1" paintbrush and brushed it on). The auto parts store said to use white lithium grease on it... I've never saw a thick grease on the door hinges when I got it. Which do you use or do you use something completely different?

I have white lithium grease sprayed on all my door hinges..just what I learned a couple years ago and how I do it. My doors (4) are silent!

I used some kind of grease a while ago and haven't heard a peep out of it since. It's the same grease I put on the rear of my wheels to prevent it from sticking, I can't remember the name of out right now. And I'm sure any oil would work as well as Mopar oil if you went that route.

I've used lithium grease, motor oil, or trans fluid. One thing I have to add on my experience with this trucks door hinges is this: When I bought my truck, the check roller on the rear drivers side door was completely seized. I tried all kinds of penetrating oils and grease to free it up and it wouldn't.

I ended up replacing he hinge for about $50 - $60. Then the truck sat most of last winter and I didn't use that door much even when I did drive the truck. I noticed that the check roller on the new hinge was starting to stiffen up as well. Lately I've been using the truck a lot and all doors have been getting used regularly with out hinge problems. So it seems that lack of use may not be a good thing on them either.

Yeah it was actually chevron oil... I am thinking the motor oil would attract dirt so next time I'll put some white lithium on 'em.

White lithium attracts dirt and crud as well. It's still what I used on my doors and for the most part they are noise free but it looks filthy all around the hinges because I SOAK them.

So I tried white lithium grease and it came back... I took a rag and wiped the hinges down and tried 3 in 1 oil... not sure if it's gone away. It seems to be squeaking from the round wheel on the top hinge.

So it would squeak when the door would open over the last "bump" on the hinge. I hit it with penetrating oil and it's not doing it at the moment...
