The problem is based on the location of the injector. Adding a cleaner to the fuel is not effective like it is on an engine with injectors before the valves.

My brother is a service writer for Fox motors up here. He does service writing for Toyota and Ford out of his dealership. The Eco boost trucks are coming in left and right for charge coolers. (The ecoboost intercooler, so to say.)

They sit far too low and are being damaged by snow banks and deep snow on the roads. if you live in an area that sees a lot of snow, make sure you take care of that cooler.

I really haven't heard about many people damaging the CAC on these trucks. The real issue with it is a condensation issue where condensation is forming inside of the intercooler under long periods of cruising without getting into boost much. This is an '11 and '12 issue an supposedly the intercooler has already been redesigned for '13. I'm not sure what they're telling the service writers to say, but that's the real reason they are coming in left and right for a new intercooler.

The intercooler doeshang pretty low, but if you're hitting the intercooler with things, you have bigger problems because you'll be damaging quite a few other components along with an before that.
