I have my 06 Dakota which is still a nice truck, but parts for it are just ridiculous. Wiper arms which are making me the most mad, $120 for new ones? Door panels are high, lift kit is just no way. Upgrading the engine is just worthless. I was going to trade my truck in and get a 1999 Dodge 2500 Cummins turbo diesel 24v quad cab, lifted, very very clean.
Just didn't go through, he wasn't offering me anything good, but ever since I drove that, I fell in love with it. I still owe $9200 on the loan I have right now, so I will be keeping my truck, but in a year my plan is to save up and get a Cummins. I won't get another gas vehicle after that, unless it's a sports car. This Dakota is nice, I'm paying $200 a month, 6.24% interest, and it's affordable, but doing anything to it I'll have to get another job, and I make about $2400 a month, and I try to work as much as possible. Just don't see it being worth doing anything to it anymore. I got the superchips, I got dual air intake, just not worth it. I'll end up spending well over $15,000+ doing the stuff I want to do this my 06, while I'll spend no more than $2000-3000 for what I want to do that truck or ones like it.

Sad to say, but I want to get this loan paid off asap so I can keep it as a back up, but it'll be what most 2nd Gen Daks are today, just there if your main vehicle has maintenance. I'm only 20 and all, I've only had this truck since January, but I can't afford all these upgrades, and especially the engine, you can't upgrade this engine without having to get it rebuilt and having a supercharger will barely hitting 300HP. It is a nice truck, but to me, that's all it will ever be. Nothing special.

Maybe you guys can help me and I'm just being dumb or am I right? Does anyone else feel like without spending 5 months worth of checks, truck isn't worth doing anything to it.
