Default My 6 Month Mod Plan

This the incomplete list of everything I currently plan to do to my Dakota in the next 6 months or so. Feel free to comment and tell me if I'm doing something really dumb or wasting money; it's why I'm posting this. Sorry for the really long post.

First step is not a mod but almost $1,000 of maintenance to the front suspension and steering. This link should go to a page with a shopping cart full of stuff (you have to click on the tab labelled "Shopping Cart").

Next is the 2 inch front differential drop from JMR, which I think will require some exhaust work. This is to correct the angle that my current 2" leveling kit puts the CV joints at.

Next up is a 3 inch body lift from performance accessories. I know some people recommend to "NEVER GET A BODY LIFT!" (SupBowz19k), but I'm going to do it anyways.

New 17 inch steel wheels with 4 inch offset. These are to A) save money and B) put the front tires further from the frame so they do not scrub. This link isn't for the exact ones but look pretty much the same. Kinda ugly but they will get the job done until I can afford KMC XD Rockstars.

Up next is the real reason to lift: bigger tires. I run 32" tires with my current 2in leveling kit, but hope to put on 34" ones once I get the extra 3" of clearance. LT295/70R17. God I've missed mudding tires.

Finally is a set of fairly expensive fender flares. I'll need these because the offset on the wheels will make them stick out about 2-2-5 inches. Plus I think they look awesome.

The list goes on and on, but I'm just shooting for what I might afford in the next 6 months. GIVE ME YOUR OPINIONS THEY MEAN A LOT!

Sounds good. I'm not sure how much research you have done on the differential drop but it might not be really necessary I know these trucks do good with the 2" Leveling kits without the drop. Also I think that with 34s you might have to trim still (just so your aware.) Post up some pictures as you get it done.

Ha it seemed forever ago that I posted this. Already on about plan 3. Rite now plan on finishing 3" suspension lift then going on to having a local exhaust shop custom make a true dual exhaust. If I still have a drivable vehicle and a penny left over I'll revisit some of those things.

3" suspension lift? Details please.....did you do the diff drop? How are you addressing tie rod/ball joint/cv joint angles?

In a few days I'm going to put a more detailed post up about the prototype that I hope to have finished and installed in a couple of weeks.

You mentioned a 4" offset. Did you mean 4" backspace? Offset is measured in millimeters and is directly relative to wheel width. Backspacing is only relative to the distance from the mounting surface to the inside lip of the wheel.

Is your suspension lift 3" in the front and the back? If so, what shocks did you get in the rear to compensate for the lack of extension that the factory ones give you? At full droop in the front, what have you done to keep the springs from contacting the upper control arms?

Yes I did mean back spacing. And the lift hasn't been installed I've only finished design. This month will be fabricating a prototype. Once I get the final details worked out I'll post for y'all to make any objections to.
