Default steering colum and key switch

I have an 2006 4x4 V6 Auto Dakota, and this morning when I went to leave for work, the key would not turn at all. It's never had ignition problems before. I tried to turn the wheel and turn the key at some time but I locked the wheel and now both the key and wheel are locked. I dont want to break anything, but I need my vehicle... Any idea's?

Try tapping the key at the end, or wiggling it a bit.

Also, make sure the gear shifter is in park, it may need a little nudge upward.

If you dont get it to start in park, Apply the parking brake and brakes, put it into Neutral and then try. It could be the transmissions Park switch going.

Hit your left rear tire with a wet noodle, do a rain dance, say the magic words to the singing bush. Repeat until key turns and steering wheel is unlocked.

Lol, I'm just kidding. Is the key stuck in the lock cylinder?
