Default Going to look at an 05 for sale...

So I need a truck I found an '05 ext cab, 4x4, auto, 4.7 in black with 77k miles. It's seems to be in great condition, bed looks unused, frame is clean and generally not rusty, very low miles for the year. Asking price is $10,900. Price seems steep but after looking around in my area (SEPA), it's actually a pretty good price. I've read through the forums here and have concluded that these are generally reliable aside from a few quirks, is this correct? Also is 15-16 mpg what I should expect for mixed driving? I will be using the truck for commuting as well as towing a 2000 lb pop up and some light handy man work. I am very mechanically inclined, and do 99% of my own car repair. If you guys were me, would you buy it?

I would buy at that price and mileage. Just be aware (as I'm sure you are if you've been keeping up with this forum) that at 77K, it's time to maintain a constant vigil on the steering and suspension components.

The seller claims the suspension is tight andon good working order, but I haven't seen it in person yet. I'm hoping some stuff has been replaced, but not getting my hopes up. My current, daily driver is a 15 year old Volkswagen, so I'm well aware of pain in tha a** suspension vigils. I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

Obviously pay close attention to the front end on the test drive, if the front struts haven't been changed, they gotta be toast. The engine and trans are generally solid with regular maintenance. Look closely above the rear wheel wells for evidence of rust, check for bubbles in the paint, an early indicator. And I'm sure that you can talk that price down a bit.

Get the VIN and click the link under my signature picture, get the build sheet for additional information regarding exactly how the truck is equipped.

Good luck.

Exuast manifold bolts breaking are issues with these trucks. Start it cold, hear any ticking noises.

I looked at thd build sheet and I noticed "heavy duty suspension," and "heavy duty shock absorber." Does that mean anything or did they all come with that?
