o.k. guys, Im in the process of replacing my heater core. I have a 2005 dakota SLT crew cab, 3.7L, auto trans, 2WD. Ive disconnected the a/c fittings, heater hoses, stripped all the crap off the dash, etc. I need to know, (does the steering column actually have to be removed from the vehicle, which would include, first pulling the steering wheel, and, removing the air bag clockspring, and god knows what else? ) OR, can I simply LOWER the steering wheel, maybe even suspend it with a ratcheting tie down strap? And if thats possible, what is the procedure for just lowering it? I cant believe, so much actually needs to be done to remove the HVAC. Any assistance greatly appreciated.
