Really. $290 at the dealer, $180 +$34 shipping (online average price). That is for the retainer shaft (05161421aa). I am waiting to hear back from usaspareparts. Which is out of Italy, but they want $60 for it.

If you ask me, that is outrageous.

Just be advised, that 60 dollar part may not be of the same quality. I am a certified boat/atv technician, and I will give you a good example. A customer brings in their ATV and needs a drive belt. This belt is roughly 180 for OEM part. Customer says he can get it for 40 bucks. I tell him I will install that belt if he brings it, but there will be no warranty on my work, which is usually 30 days.
3 weeks later, he is back and needs another belt.
This time, he bought the OEM one. A year later, he brings it in for annual service and the belt is still in great condition.

I understand that also. Been down that road before. However, what I fail to understand is. Why is the retainer shaft for the nv3500 $40 to $50, compaired to the getrag238 $170 to $180?
