Fuel Regulation Issues
I am having delayed starting issues with my 2007 Dakota 4.7L V8 4WD Quad Cab. I have replaced the crank and camshaft sensors. I am reading about fuel pump/filter issues and that they might be bad. I have also read that they are pretty much a two-in-one assembly. I see all kinds of pumps on Amazon and they range anywhere from $60 - $300. Does anyone know why they might be so different in price? Do some have extra parts to them?
I have also replaced my spark plugs which didn't seem to fix anything. When I pulled out my coils, they looked fine. My last few ideas are the filter and the injectors before I start moving to electrical issues.
I have also read about fuel Regulation/pressure issues and a check valve. I am wondering who has maybe had these starting issues and if they have tried anything. What worked and what didn't work?
Any help will be of great value! Thanks in advance!

a long crank can occur if the fuel drains back to the tank after shutdown. a check valve in the fuel pump assembly keeps the fuel rail primed...if it fails the fuel drains back to the tank. verify this by cycling the key to on for 2seconds....repeat 4x...before starting the engine...this primes the fuel rail. if it starts normally after priming...its fuel pump time.
don't buy a cheap fuel pump or else you will be changing it in 1 year when the cheap part fails.
if your vehicle is a returnless fuel system the only filter is part of the fuel pump. if you have a return fuel system...there will be a external fuel filter that should be changed to keep your new f pump warranty
