So picked up a new project yesterday, or not much of one it seems. Found an 07 quad cab Laramie 4.7flex 4x4 auto on a repo auction, opening bid (675) was to high for me, vehicle was listed not running, next day found out everyone else agreed it was a no sale, drove over there offered em $300 they took it without stopping to think. Looking it over before hand all the fluids looked nice and clean, looking it over all i noticed to make it not running was there was no battery radiator or fan. Found the fan and shroud in the back just no radiator. Ran to salvage yard quick and grabbed an HD cooling radiator and a battery for $100 dropped in had it running in an hour. Runs out and shifts great no check lights, everything works that i can tell. Just crusty

I have not owned a 4.7 before what ive read you'll either love em or hate em. This one seems to run great, 161k miles. verified the water pump is circulating nicely. I guess itll be my beater with a heater for now probably slowly clean up the rust and damages as parts become available

Im not familiar much with this generation of dakota either, always thought they were uglier then sin but hey its a dodge, im happy. I only got one key with it. Its an aftermarket cut key that looks like what id call an 02-05 3rd gen full size truck key. My 06 SLT has a skim key im surprised this doesnt? or should it, im getting no anti theft warnings, and shouldn't this have remote locks, possibly remote start? What are my bests options here to get it back to factory level. buy new lock cylinders and remote from dodge? I obviously dont have the skim code, they wanted 80 bucks to unlock it on my 06. I said ill take my chances on the one key i have.

These things are kinda of ugly, but I've found the ugly ones treat me right over the years. To get that factory key most likely requires a locksmith or dealer visit. Sounds like you got a sweet deal. The 4.7 is known to have head issues if it's ever overheated. Keep an eye on your coolant level.

 

Sounds like you're off to a good start in getting her back into shape. In terms of what features it should have had, see the attached brochure. Looks like you should have the remote start package installed already.

My keys (2011) look like these:
They have the 4 large buttons (Panic, door lock, door unlock, and remote start). Since you don't have two original keys, you'll probably need a locksmith or the stealership to get them programmed.
