Dodge's Oblivious
So i got curious and all and went and compared my 05 dakota to the 05 Tacoma DblCb V6 and the 05 NIsmo Frontier, and it makes me wonder WHY dodge is doing this. I also did research on past years compared to now.
Ground Clearance: 04 Dakota: 9.1" 05 Dakota: 7.9" Why did they drop the ground clearance to that low!? 05 Tacoma: 9.5" 05 Frontier: 10.1" (WOW!) And the 07 Power Wagon has less ground clearance than the 03 Ram 1500!? I don't get it, wheneveryone else is making their trucks go up, dodge is going down? I'm so confused...they better have an improvement with the 08 dakota! |
RE: Dodge's Oblivious
I noticed this right away when the new model came out. Not only are the 05-07 BIGGER, they also sit LOWER. This makes them look boaty, with a weak stance. Maybe handling and ride comfort?? After I lifted the truck I came to the conclusion that my 06 now sits like a 4x4 last gen, say an 04. Its a god awful thing, but at least you can correct it.

RE: Dodge's Oblivious
yeah...u got a point, i just dont understand why they didnt make at least the TRX4 higher up lol. Like the Tacoma has the different models, one sits low, one sits normal, and one sits high, that would be a great idea for dodge to do, make the night runner low, regular at regular hieght, and then the trx4 like 1-2" higher. hmmm!
|
RE: Dodge's Oblivious
i'm pretty sure the TRX group does sit an inch higher. i do agree that the night runner and/or R/T should sit low....shame they couldn't do that.

RE: Dodge's Oblivious
I think the TRX should be up... but to tell you the truth, I have been in snow and mud and not had a problem with bottoming out too much. I will admit that it would be nice to be able to not worry about hanging up in the woods.

RE: Dodge's Oblivious
lol yeah...i think i was letting off some steam from reading that earlier...really got to me that my truck sits almost 2" lower than the dakota from the previous year..lol
ericemery what garmin GPS do you have? |
RE: Dodge's Oblivious
I have the Streetpilot C330... I also got the upgraded maps. (US, Mexico, canada, adn Alaska...)
My only gripe is sat. aquisition time. takes about 30sec from time you turn it on, to be able to use it.... |
RE: Dodge's Oblivious
Yupi really think they should have done 2 wheel drive sits like our trucks do now, 4x4 sits slighty higher and The TRX should be jacked the **** up with some nice shocks, skid plates. Look at the TRD tacoma..That thing is made for wheeling, A ZR2 S10..Also made for wheeling..TRX Dakota...Made for the street :(

RE: Dodge's Oblivious
Yeah I gotta say after seeing a TRX dakota I'm pretty disappointed with how similar they look to the regular daks. My friend has a 98 s10 ZR2 and his is so different from a regular s10 it's impossible to mistake one for the other.
