Default beating a dead horse, intake and exhaust

Can you guys really tell a difference when you added your intake and exhaust? As someone on here calls it the "butt dyno" test. I have been running the 63K&N with factory exhaust. At first I thought I could tell a difference but I think that was me justjustifying the $$$. Sounds cool though.

So, do I go ahead andupgrade exhaust and hope I see some "butt dyno" gains? I'm leaning towardgoing back to stock and sell the CAI on eBayand putting themoney toward a Line-X or something else for the truck.

I don't know if I gained any HP with my intake, but I definatly got a lot better low/ mid range throttle response. I may havefound a few ponies but without a dyno theres no official way to say yes or what rpm thay may be at. I do like its responsiveness now, don't have to get as deep into the throttle when just running around town. I plan to do the exhaust soon, and would like to get a dyno done just out of curiosity.

Not sure what true gains you get, but overall the two just go together likePB & J. if u rgonna do the exhaust, you damn sure better do the CAI. And vice versa - if you're gonna do the CAI, you damn well better do the exhaust. It's like turning ur truck into a fire breathing dragon from the angry beast it already is..... it breathes better, roars louder, it'snoisier, and overall a helluva lot more fun.

I know there are gains with the set-up, but reagrdless you'll be happy in the end.

When I slapped the K&N on and drove it for over a week, put around 4 or 500 miles on it. I felt it killed off some of my low end torque but jumping on it for passing she seemed a little quicker. I took it off. I installed some headers, drove for a week then stuck the K&N back on,the two seem to work together pretty well. I know some people will argue no way the K&N by itself has to help, better breathing right.I thinksome of the mods just move your power band a bit. you look at the dynos on these engines, hp and torque come together around 36000rpm or so. Check the dynos on the air kits and exhaust it seemsall the gains are in the mid rpm range.I think the size of the 4.7,thats it sweet spot 3500rpm range. I agree though it sounds bad azz at WOT.

that's a good question if intake & exhaust really help that much. I'd be really interested to see some real before & after dyno numbers myself too. I think my intake & exhaust helped, just not sure how much. The main thing I noticed was cruising the interestate at 80 it doesn't seem to downshift on hills nearly as easily. I really like the sound of the exhaust (gibson 3"). The intake noise can be a little annoying if you stomp on the gas.
