Factory cruise control
Yep, they make them. I have them on my truck anyway. They go behind the steering wheel on the otherside of the cruise control buttons. At first I thought it was going to behard to use because you can't see what you're doing. It actually works better though because you don't look down to see what you are pressing. I learned the controls right away, they are pretty easy.
Yeah I know where they go ... I just didn't know they were an option on Dakotas...my friends all have them in they're cars... I don't mind though... I think its good to get used to the ***** ....u just have to get good at doing it with out looking... I think the steering wheel controls make people lazy...no offense...that and I don't think I'd really use them anyway with a manual.
None taken. lol!!I don't think it makes people lazy I think it just allows them to focus on the road more. It's kind of like the bluetooth that I have in mine. All you have to do is talk and it does everything for you. You don't have to pull your phone out or dial it with that. Does it make you lazy? No, it just allows you to focus more on the road.
Yeah I geuss... I just see alot of friends who will get into my old car or w/e and they can drive the car...but they just can't change the station or volume or what have you with the stereo and drive at the same time... so I don't think it makes everyone lazy I just think it's makin my genereation lazy.
Curtiplas, if you had them you'd use them. I miss the radio controls from my last car! I agree with Casper, it's not laziness but convenience. Are we lazier because we have power steering? Power brakes?
The Chrysler ones I think are the best of the wheel controls, because they are behind the wheel it's real intuitive to use. I can't understand why all dealers don't order them - I think it was a measly $75 option, available with any radio. Wonder if it would be easy to add? Hmm...

lol! Ok, that I understand. If you don't know how to work a normal car radio then you're either a yuppie or a deeeee, de, deeee! I'm not too far ahead of your generation though (I just turned 24 lastThursday)and this is the first vehicle I've had them on. There's no excuse for not knowing how to work the normal **** style radio.
Exactly I know what you mean I'm not sayin I wouldn't use them, well actually I prolly wouldn't use them with my current truck because its a manual and I have one hand on the steering wheel and its usually at 12 O'Clock I'm sayin its makin my gen lazy because they can't drive and use the ***** because all they know how to use is the steering wheel controls... and Chrysler isn't the only manufactor that makes them behind the steering wheel...infact I've never seen controls that are on the steering wheel and aren't on the other side... my Friends Buick has them that way and my gfs Mazda has them that way to.
There is a Mopar kit to install cruise control. It consists of a solenoid and the buttons for the left and right sides of the wheel. I'm looking at getting one but I'm thinking of looking @ a junk yard first. One you get teh buttons and solenoid installed under the hood you have to activate the system w/ a starscan @ a dealer.
