265/50/20's on my RAM 20's
A long story short I swapped my Cooper Discover HT 285/50/20's for Bridgestone 265/50/20's.
The 285's rode very well, did not rub after minor trimming, (and looked great in my opinion) but I noticed I needed considerably more gas pedal to keep it rolling, not to mention mashing into it to keep towing the boat at speed.
The 265's are just .6 shorter and .6 narrower, but have a substantially smaller tread width, thus pushing much less rubber down the road.
The 265's are almost identical to my original 265/70/16's.
The truck reacts more like it did stock, more nimble and responsive.
Here is a link of my post with the 285's, what do you think? https://dodgeforum.com/m_769097/tm.htm
Here is a link to more photo's of both tires http://picasaweb.google.com/05Dakota/2655020S
All comments welcome.
Thanks,

Did you notice a MPG difference with the 285's??? Are you going to be selling the other tires or did you trade them in. I'm interested if you still have them. tdralfs@telus.net
I didn't have them long enough to calculate it without pulling the boat, but I am sureit twas reduced. I probably would have kept them but we watched a news article last week that talked about Cooper tires having tread separation problems and possibly linked to 259 deaths, it scared the H@ll out of us and the wife said the tires must go. I went back to Discount tire and spoke to them about the 30 guarantee and I paid the difference for these. I really liked them short of the mileage and slight performance hit.

Truck looks great! I had the factory 275/60R20 on my 05 Hemi, not aggressive enough. Bought 285/55R20 Pirrelli Scorpions. Too small! Bought 305/50R20 Avenger. Look great. Ride great. No rub, no affect on ride quality. Hope to send pictures soon of my truck. Is anybody interested in the Pirrelli Scorps? Only have 500 miles on them. Let me know.
Thanks,
Ralph

LB, man i like the ram wheels on your truckvery much . the new 265/50/20 look much better to me than the 285's they were a little tall . i did like how wide they were though, i know there wasn't a lot of height differance but i think the new 265's look amazing they fit the truck just right. you made the right decision. i really like the silver color, and you did right by buyingthe chrome wheels.this is a sweet truck. good job !!!!!
265/70/16 about 10" 7/16 wide , 30" 5/8 tall
285/50/20 11" 1/4 wide , 31" 1/4 tall
265/50/20 10" 7/16 wide , 30" 7/16 tall ( just right) very close to factory height.

don't know if you like the sport truck lookor not , but i think this looks killer !!!!!!!!! ( not to low )

The truck looks great lowered but looking closely at it relative to the background, it's probably a 'photo shop' lowering kit.
