Default Hemi Fit?

On the late model Daks (05-07) will any of the small block, crate Hemis (5.7, 6.1, or 392) fit inside the engine bay where the 4.7s reside?

Thanks in advance,
traintrackker

5.7 will fit...i'm not sure about the 6.1 though...also check state laws to see what you need to do if you want to do an engine swap (smog laws).

Hmm... I wonder if they'll fit in the engine compartment where the 3.7 sits?

the engine bay is the same size no matter what motor you have.

but they will fit, it just takes alot of modifacation. you can make anything fit if you want to

There was a guy that was putting in a 6.1 for another guy on Dakotatrucks.com. I don't know what the out come was because the site had gone down a couple of times since Lynn last posted pics of the engine in the truck. He said that they were having issues with the computer.

on my other site.wwwdodgetruckworld.com the is a guy that is doing the swap and has 5 pages of pics in his threads. but why would you want to do that. the trucks frt suspension is terrible already. this will make truck nose heavy and the power you can get from a 4.7 will be the same

Well, if that lottery prize ever comes, I'd love to dump in the 392 as it sounds fine at 500+hp and torque with the fuel injected version...It's that $16,000 figure for the motor that says ouch....I definitely think that any of the Hemi's would put out more hp than the 4.7.

superdak05's got a really good point....the suspension would need strengthened to handle the heavier Hemi engines....but I do disagree on his other point...i think the massive amount of additional power (the 5.7 Hemi does put out an extra 100 each of hp and tq) would be more than enough to overcome the additional weight.

lets think of it this way, if you got the money to even swap out the engines with a bigger more expensive engine, then you have the stinkin money to go ahead and redo the front suspension at the same time with heavy modifications!
