Well how loud is it...you might be getting the noise when your puttin the pedal to the medal too... your engine just might be covering it...

Jimbo I know what your talkin about with the K&N but if it is the K&N...which does make a high pitced sqeuk around those RPMS then he should be able to do it in Neutral.... so Trucky I'd try that and if it does happen then I would am almost 100% sure its the CAI...and I don't know of anyway to fix it...but if you figure it out let us know.
