high rev on cold start?
hey I've had an issue on and off for the past week. When i start my truck after it has been sitting for a while, sometimes, not all the time, it seems to not have the power going to it. When i put it in reverse, it used to just go, now i have to press on the accelerator to make it move. And then sometimes when just going forward, it will push the engine to about 3000rpm when im only going about 5-10mph...and when it kicks to 2nd gear it then seems to regain the normal power...any suggestions?
I've noticed the same thing, the truck barely moves on idle without giving it some gas maybe only 2 or 3MPH.
I thought it was just the fact it's a heavy truck with a low idle setting.
Another thing, the truck does not slow down when I take my foot off the accelerator. It takes about an actual 10 to 12 seconds to drop 10 MPH say from 35 MPH to 25 MPH.

i put mine in drive and it takes right of. it nakes the jet engine sound because of the clutch fan and she goes. as far as taking foot off gas and not slowing down until 10-12 seconds is normal. most auto matics do this. if it were a manual then it would slow down as soon as you took foot off of the pedal. these trucks will coast pretty good once they are up and cruising.
Well one more thing for me to talk to the dealer about when I take it in. So far she's stalled on me twice out of nowhere so I think something's definitely up with mine.

Well it will take longer than a manual trans...even still it should be slowing down a tad quicker...but it may have to do with the fact that we have large trucks and so they have alot of momentum.

I have exactly the same problem with my 06 QC 4x4 4.8L V8. When this happens to my truck it lasts about 1 minute and appears to be engine related. I can put the tranny in neutral and still hear the roaring...my truck is only 10 mo old and I know it has no fluid losses.
I signed in to see if anyone had a fix, I'll check around and post anything I find out.
