It's very likely that Cerberus will sell the profitable divisions to other companies (Jeep will become GM and maybe Dodge Truck). The other divisions will be discontinued and the assets sold. I would not be surprised to see the Dakota discontinued because of the limited market. 2008 could be the last year for Dak.

From what I've heard about Cerebus, they're not that type of company... I understand the idea behind doing that, but Cerebus is supposed to have a reputation of bringing companies back from the brink of bankruptcy and although that would work for chrysler atleast, I don't think Cerebus will sell of Dodge and Jeep...not saying they won't sell off any assets... I just don't think they will sell of Dodge and Jeep....and hopefully they won't sell of the Dakota... I know its a smaller market...but I do see alot of them around...about as many daks if not more than S10s and Rangers...atleast around here.
Mid size trucks will be around more than ever with the fuel situation. The Tacoma is extremely popular and the Dak is a great alternative. Dodge needs to seize the opportunity to out pace the market if it acts quickly and thinks OTB and gets a diesel into the market in the Dak.
Folks, I work with all the major auto makers and their suppliers in my job and I can tell you, things aren't looking too good for the home teams (Ford, GM, Chrysler). As I tell my bosses, when will the American people wake up and realize that we are an endangered species and if we are forced to live off minium wage, then the greatest country this earth has ever known will become a 3rd world country in no time flat. I would also like to remind folks that the auto industry's ups and downs has an effect on other folks not necessarily related to the car companies. If jobs will be cut, it isn't good for anyone. I hate to be a pessimist, but the facts speak for themselves.
