Default New head, what the hell!

Ok, so my truck has been at the dealer for two days now for a misfire code. First they tell me it is a bad spark plug. Wrong, I just had them replaced on Wednesday. Today I had to call the dealership because thay haven't called me yet and they tell me that I need a new drivers side head. The truck only has 34700 miles and no modifications other than a different muffler and one less resonator. What's the deal? The service advisor couldn't even tell me why I needed new head. Anyone have this problem yet?

I had that problem (along with hundreds, if not thousands, of others) with my old GMC Canyon. This is a new one for the Dakota.

Is Dodge covering the repair?

Dodge hasn't said that they aren't. Everthing should still be covered under warranty. The advisor I'm dealing with is just a total idiot, he doesn't even call to update me, I've had to call him everytime. They tried to charge me a diagnose fee, but I called the service manager who I know and he waived that charge.

Was it making the clacking noise on startup like so many here have complained about? Is it the 4.7 motor?

not to speak out of turn, but did they do a compression test on the head. your misfire could only be a slighly leaking head gasket. they way gas is now you could have had a bad detonation in that one cyl and split it. dont suppose you checked your fluids for contamination?

Yes, it is the 4.7. All fluids were just changed the day before it went to the dealer and everything was normal. The dealer ship was telling me that it was a bad spark plug and that when they put it to a different cylinder, the lack of spark followed it. Ther seems to be something wierd going on here because they first said it was just a bad spark plug.

Had mine in yesterday for a prominant misfire. Turned out the cam sensor failed. They fixed it at 51,000 miles under my added care and even got me a free rental car. I only had to pay the $100.00 deduct.
