so what about this, if you hook up the serial cable, have the truck off and then hit the horn, you should only get a few codes. (horn power to horn and hornswitch...) right? if you could map out enough of these codes you could elimated them from your search. so like shifting from 1-2 would have a specific code that you could track down and find... but how would you find teh RPM signal and the signal to shift? they would both look like average engine codes... this may take a lot of work... but if we could figure it out, we could make a program to run off alaptop that could intercept and change the codes on teh fly... making our own hypertech type programming... hopes and dreams. hopes and dream.
I have been looking at the service manual about this can controler. I would like to get the overhead console with the trip computer and all for my truck.(mine just has dome lights) I wonder how hard it would be to hook up. I know that I already have the temperature sensor. But I don't know if the rest of the wiring is there or if I have to get the wiring to hook up the console. The console costs about $177 on a parts site I went to. Does anyone have any info on trying to do this?
