So I finally decided that I have had enough of the stock wheels... So in light of me being basicly broke I did what any cheapskate does when he has 30 dollars burning a hole in his pocket...

The color is graphite (gun metal) duplicolor wheel paint. There are 5 coats of color and 7 coats of clear.
The paint ran me 6 bucks a can at autozone. I used 2 cans of color and 2 cans of clear. I also picked up a roll of tape and a purple scotch pad. it came out to 28 and change... so i also grabbed a can of caliper paint and painted them while the wheels were off... I spent maybe 35 bucks this weekend to get this effect...

well... I will tell you this much. plan on prep taking about 30 minutes a wheel minimum... I powerwashed them of, then I took the purple scotch pad to them, then I took 600 grit wedsand sandpaper and wetsanded the face and lip of the wheels... Id say it took me like 45 minutes a wheel... but you dont have to wetsand... I just did it to err on the edge of caution. and I wanted to use up the sand paper that I had. ;-)
I just hit the calipers and drums with some brake clean and a wire brush... they looked great after about a2 minutes a brake...
Oh by the way, plan on it taking a good 6 or 7 hours... It took me around an hour and a half to do the color coast and 2 and a half to do the clear... plus prep time. [X(]

speaking of brake dust... ceramic pads are way better on dusting that carbon metallics... I used to have to really work on cleaning the dust, now it comes of with the power washer. I just take a wheel brush to the wheels and I'm done... I have the powerball if they get bad now though...

Looks really nice man! I've been thinking about painting mine gunmetal (still not sure if it will look good on a dark blue truck). Did you have to mask off anything to avoid overspray when you did the calipers?
