I took some pictures of the fuse block. I had a hard time even getting the fuse out. It seems one leg is broke and one of the contacts in the block looks burnt. I plan on installing the original controler that came with the fan and soldering the conections not the fuse just the wires.

Its a 30 amp fuse. on the fuse itself it look like the plastic melted around the one leg that kind of bent.

most of these fans run off a 40 amp fuse not 30. you may be using to low of a fuse.

Don't run it unfused, that's asking for trouble. Get a decent car audio fuse holder (preferably waterproof) that uses ANL wafer fuses and a 30 amp (or 40 amp if that's what you need) fuse for it. You can't go wrong with those, fuse will definitely not come loose.

by the look of the pictures the fuse was overheating. Run a bigger fuse. Get the type you run for a stero amp. they are i believe 40-60amp fuses.

I rewired everything today. Soldered all conections and used heat shrink tubing on all conections. I hooked up the control box that came with the fan. I also moved the temperature probe to a new location. Everything works great now. The variable speed control that I bought I think was a bad idea. It was very hard to adjust it. It has a small set screw that was hard to get to. The control box that came with the fan has a **** to turn to adjust it. Since the fan now comes on at 100% instead of the 60% speed with the variable speed controller, the engine cools off much quicker and the fan runs a little longer than it did before. It was running for like ten to fifteen seconds then it would shut off and the temperature didn't drop much. Now it runs for like 1 to 1 and a half minutes and the temperature drops quicker. So we shall see how it holds up. Even the original control box came with a smaller looking 30 amp fuse.
