4th of July Plans
ORIGINAL: Beazer
When I was your age, I used to wonder the exact same kinds of things. Maybe you can't take it out by yourself because you may be responsible and sensible in it, but that doesn't mean everyone else will be. There'll probably be a lot of drunks out on theirs also. We've had several DUI boating accidents on the waterway just this year. One involveda Sea Doo jet boat apparently trying to jump the wake of yacht and landing on top, yes on top, of a Bayliner type cruiser. When the 18ft Bayliner dropped into the trough of the wake, the Sea Doo jet boat came flying over the crest and landed on it. Injured three four and I think one of those ended up paralyzed. What's worse is that it was in a no wake zone. Like I said, it probably isn't you, it's probably just your father's desire to not lose his son or have you permanently injured bacause of someone else's carelessness.

so what are your plans guys?
idk what im doin on the 4th...id like to take the baja out, and just anchor down and watch the fireworks from the island on the lake....but id like to do that just the gf and i....i dont get it, i can tow a boat thats for sale to the lake, take ppl on test drives in $60k boats all by myself (no dealers do this that are not located on the water already but we are 5 minutes away from a government lake we got their permission to use so its just us, but only do this with very interested buyers that have passed for financing already just to make sure) but i cant get the pops to let me take out the baja on the 4th alone...not like id take a bunch of ppl, just the woman....it would be nice, but guess i can scratch that...(i consider myself very responsible, and i am a stickler about bein very careful and have been on/around/ect boats my whole life, but i wouldnt let my 19yo son take it out alone on the 4th either) i tried though....but maybe ill just take out the sea doos earlier then get some ppl to go campin..
maybe i can steal your plans for myself if their good

Heading up North to York Beach Maine, there's a nice camp ground on Long Sands right across from the beach the kids love it,they'll do some skim boarding, swimming & find all kinds of critters.Im looking forward to relaxing with my family and doing what ever comes along!
Have a safe one & enjoy it!

Fireworks are a lot better when you see them over water. Being on the coast, we get to see them reflecting in the Atlantic.
I really didn't think about it at the time, but if you don't have much experience at night that could be part of the reason also. Operating a water craft at night is a lot different and takes a lot more concentration and attention than during the day.
I'm not preaching at you though. For some odd reason my mind seems to be following suit with things I've heard in the past......damn, growing up and having kids ruins all the hellraising fun.

ya, been on water at night....it so peaceful and its a completely dif environment...when we go to beaver lake (arkansas) , if theres a full moon and no clouds and there is enough light, its nice to do a little night skiing. you really have to know your lake just to go out at night and its not for everyone...you have to be very careful....when we do that though, we put a waterproof flashing light on skiers vest. its def not something to do all the time, but its nice once in a while, its an awesome experiance....
We are going to take my daughter to her first fireworks show the township puts on. We will be out onour lake as well. Plus,we have our annual block-party on the 14th so, we are taking it wasy until then. So, nothing too busy.
Dam, I'm stuck for the second year in a row in Lompoc Cali over the forth. I'm on my second week out here working at the Vandenberg AFB launch sites. So that means I'll be heading to the local high school stadiumagain for some fireworks. Back home in Florida we blow up all week long. Brevard county and Palm Bay where I live it’s like a battleground. I LOVE IT. I am a fireworks junkie and I'll admit it. So this is killing me being out here instead of being home. Anyway y'all enjoy and happy birthday America!
