Default Chrome Tip and painted exhaust

Well i went to a local muffler shop to rolled chrome tip installed. When it was done it looked good but did not look right because from the back of the truck you can still see all the factory pipe and rear muffler. So when i got home i grabbed some black semi-gloss engine paint. i taped off the tip then used steel wool on all the pipe and muffler to make sure i got all the dirt and stuff off then painted it. Looks much better. This will do until i can talk the wife into dual exhaust.

what temperature is your paint good up to? i used 500 degree paint on a tip back in feb and after 100 miles (prob started way before, but thats when i noticed it), the paint had melted off.

btw, what kind of mpg are you getting? i see yours is a flex fuel. i heard they arnt as good unless you use e85 (which depending on where you are located, is hard to find...dont have it out here) and in cases could get worse mpg.

It was the 500+ paint. i used it on a set of headers with no issue so it should work on the pipes. We took the truck from Des Moines IA to Chicago 2 weekends ago and got 19.7 MPG with the air on so i do not think that is to bad. We do have Flex fuel stations around here but when you run E85 the milage goes down by about 4 to 5 MPG. My wife fill up with it last week because there was some big thing going on with it and it was only $1.85 a gallon. This tank she only got 11 MPG around town and she normally gets 14 to 15.

The exhaust looks cool. tryin to talk my wife into letting me get a flow master... thats not any better than the MPG that we're all gettin. i'm getting 13-14 in town and 20 highway. and i have a heavy lead foot.
