Default Ticking or Clicking from Rear End

Hello All,

I need some input. When I am driving around the 05 level parking garage were I work, I can hear a ticking or clicking sound coming from the rear of my tuck. Its a 2006 Dodge Dakota Quad, SLT Sport, V8. It has 32000 KMS. I have no idea what this noise is. I hear it in the garage because evevrything is louder and I am driving slower. I am not sure if it happens when driving faster or not. Whenever I go over a bumpy road, I can also hear this noise.

Any idea wha tthis is

I have an 06 as well. First you need to check you rear diff fluid. Have you had the fluid changed since the truck was purchased? The mannual states that the diff must be changed every 15k. I just had as of 7/23 my rear seal blow on my truck....... becuase I didn't have the fluid and gasket changed. If that's not the case change the fluid anyway, inspect the rear gears and pinion, check to see if there are any broken teeth or abnormal wear spots. If that's the case then you need to haul it to the dealership for warranty work unless you'd rather do it yourself......

Take it to the dealer, it should still be under warranty.

That is a real good point coondog. Didn't even think of it the first time I read this post. I've had that happen on more than one occasion...usually on account of a nail of some sort in one of the tires.
