I have an airaid intake and love it. I always had k&n in other trucks I had but went with airaid because it was cheaper and there all the same anyway so I would go with what you can afford.

I have the K&N 77 series. It really doesn't heat up at all? I drove 996 miles straight, when I pulled into my destination, I popped the hood, I was able to touch it and it was still cold, so yeah. But I like K&N filters if you can afford it.

i recently put a 63 series on and am more than happy with it. I myself am a fan of saving money, I built my own bed cover. I will post some pics once it quits with the bad weather around here so that i can clean my truck up. It cost me about 75.00. I just wanted to see if it would help on mpgs. this is a great site and these guys know a s@#T ton, so welcome to the sight.

BUT, they are so coool looking! The twin intakes!! Doesnt that mean two times the air flow!?! Watch out for the huge power increase there!!haha Yeah I hear ya on that one. Definently stick with something thats proven.

All factory intakes flow all that the engine needs for most daily needs. Its the poor flow for sound control that kills max performance. Installing a better intake tube is probably one of the best areas for improvement. All the atermarket filters will flow what you need its just that some actually filter better than others for fine materials like dust. When going with what a manufacturer claims, if they put up numbers at all, you don't typicaly know if they are testing with the hood closed and enginehot or hood open and engine just to operating temp. Its a crap shoot at that point. The heat shield is just as important so that you are able to utilize a cooler ambient air for combustion mixture. So pick a descent filter with a good tube/pickup location with heat shielding.
