Transmission is trying to keep you in the most optimal gear to actually MAKE it up the hill
just how it works...
your tranny shifts are computer controlled.
optimus prime now and days... = Fuel economy and Smog...
its the way the computer is programmed - fuel economy
back in the day of 440's didnt need optimums - fuel prices? ha its only 70cents

maybe I don't understand how it is supposed to work, but if I let off the pedal and let it shift it continues on just fine, no problems. Doesn't get bogged down or anything.
