Today, my truck....
I just hit 60,000 on my '05 SLT 4x4. I run this truck pretty (very)hard. I have had a few problems. (brake shudder that replaced hardware and drums, new transmission pump, exhaust manifold on passenger side replacement, refrigerant leak , a new sentry key(not covered)and a cam(s) sensor replacement)Dodge has never failed to take care of me. Everything has been fully warranted except the stupid key that the battery prong broke on. This includes the new computer and ECM on order due to my truck's transfer case being posessed by demons.(it shifts all by its lonesome. truck running or not running. truck moving or not moving) I always wonder if the ECM or computer could somehow have been corrupted when the tech flashed my new key(s). That's when the transfer case got a mind of its own. The truck has had a few problems (a few too many) I know but I haven't been too concerned. Some vehicles experience problems. This one seems to be one of them. I still like my Dodge. The issues it has hadreally have been situations that wouldn't have left me stranded. If you can afford it, always purchase an extended warranty. It's worth every single penny. My '01 ST 4x4 Dakota only had the ball joint issue. I wouldn't mind trying out the '08 with the like 65HP increase.
I never purchased extended warranties when I had Asian cars. That paid off since nothing every went wrong within 100k. With these Gen III Daks and my 95 Dak it was the other way around, I was glade I purchased the warranties. They saved me big moneywithin the first 70k on my 95 and from what I had been reading will do the same on my Gen III. Sorry but it's not like consumers report has an inside secret on Mopars. It is all to well known they are problematic and always have been. Taking the option on my buy back for a replacement Dodge tells me I'm a loyal customer and gluten for punishment.
