Default V8: 4.7 or 4.7 H.O.

What's the difference real difference between the 4.7 and the High Output 4.7? What separates the hp between the two?

I'm curious so I know I'm not upgrading something that doesn't need it

The HO is good for at least 30 HP over reg 4.7 motor. It has good cams, not racing but good. You have two of the four best modsdone. The other two are a Throttle Body by Fast Man($180), only about 10 hp but better off the line and they are a work of art . The JET stage 2 module($210) for the HO motor(use #90403S) will give you 16HP and 19 lb/ft from 1500 to WOT at the wheels according to JET. (I havn't pulled the trigger on this mod yet but want to in a bad way). Some guys are also going to an electric fan and pulling the clutch fan off to free up some HP. Have not done this yet either.

The service manual https://dodgeforum.com/m_570800/tm.htmhas all the details about both engines under the engine specifications section. It interestingly lists the HO motor at 270HP and 330 lb/ft. see sect 9 page 909.

Thanks for the response. The hp diff was obvious. I didn't want to buy a JET chip if the ECU was already optimal in comparison to JET or use a larger TB if that too was bigger than the plain 4.7

It's funny you mention dropping the fan as I was considering that myself. I don't check this forum very much so until recently I thought it was an original idea...guess not. Anyone have any info on doing this? I figured I'd just get a universal 2200cfm fan from one of my jeep mags. 2200cfm should be plenty I think.

I retired my jeep for a new wiring harness install so the truck is my only vehicle now. It shouldn't take me very long to put a elec fan in. But depends on if I need to move the radiator to pull the fan off. I haven't really looked just put the idea in my head.

Those that have done the stage 2 JET chips say they work great and help get the optimal burn ratio, also have not seen a single bad write up about the Fastman Throttle bodies. The TBs are just a true 68.5mm all the way through instead of having them taper in the middle.
There are a few people that have done the fan mod, Frenchy is one that comes to mind but I think his computer is down currently. Do a search on here for the fan writeups there are several.
