Default A question for those who have installed a leveling kit..

The only part I'm a bit doubtful on my abilities is about getting a strut/spring assembly back IN after I've made it 2 inches longer.. How did you get past that?

... I got to that part and it didn't go back in... after quite a while of trying, we put it back stock and just paid someone to do it.

The struts only extend out so far, if you're using the TM kit they shouldn't be any longer putting them back in than they were removing them. It lifts the truck by preloading the springs.

hmm from what I understand, the newer TM DL223 kit does not preload the springs. Am I believing incorrectly?

I'm talking about the silver spacers with the threaded studs on them.

If your using the spacers that go On TOP of the shock on a 4x4, DONT. They over extend the CV joints on full travel. The DL223 kit is the newer kit where the spacer goes inside the shock, basically compressing the spring a little more, giving you lift, but not changing suspension drop

Well you're only partially wrong. The old way of installing it uses the threaded studs and goes above the strut, this can cause problems and isn't recommended on 4WD models. The kit still comes with the studs but the new way of installing it doesn't use them. The spacer goes in the strut, here's a link to the correct install instructions: http://www.trailmastersuspension.com...ions/DL223.pdf

So does the 'newer' DL223 kit extend the assembly length or no?

No, the 'newer' and 'older' DL223 are the same kit, the link I provided is the newer instructions which only use the spacer. It shouldn't extend the length of the strut any since it goes in the strut and preloads the spring.

You might have to put a jack under the lower control arm and raise it up to reconnect the upper ball joint.
