Default driving without the crankcase breather connected to the airbox

I installed the K&N Air Charger in my Dak yesterday evening and when I was pulling out the old airbox I noticed that the breather tube wasn't connected to the crankcase. Aside from the obvious of sucking in crap and crud (oil change will be done tonight) would there be any other effects either positive or negative?

On the K&N note its a decent product and quality but their instructions suck. Could they make the pics any smaller and poorer quality?

If the system is like older carsit is designed to suck piston bypass gasses out of the cranckcase through the intake. If it was disconnected you probably didn't get any junk in the crank case since there is no vacume there, an oil change to be sure won't hurt though. You may have been sucking unfiltered air through the hose but again unless you have been in alot of dust should be okay. You may want to inspect the inside of the hose and maybe clean it incase there is some grime in there that may work its way to the intake and bypass the filter because it connects after the filter.
