Default Problem with Air Vents

For some reason, the air in my 2005 Dakota will only blow out of the defrost and floor vents, not the face vents. Temperature is not an issue, the only problem is that the control **** to direct the air flow essentially does not work. I can hear it trying to work for a few seconds when I turn the ****, but no matter what setting I put it on, I get air flowing out of the defrost and floor vents. I plan to check the fuses first, then check for any loose wiring, but I'm not sure that either of these is the problem. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Default RE: Problem with Air Vents

The mix door, believe it or not is controled by the computer CAN-B program. The only thing your control **** does is tell the computer what position its in and the computer sent the voltage to the mix door solenoid for that gate position that directs the air flow to the proper vents. So instead of just being a simple electro mechanical thing as in the past its now computer activated and that will mean do a scan OSB reading to make sure the can-B is being addressed for that function and no error codes show up. That’s not saying that it could be a jammed mix door or solenoid sticking but there is a bit more trouble shooting to it than there use to be.
