Is there any way to disable the chime, in my case, without taking it in for repairs? I tried the solution above but it doesn't work in this case.

The sensor is in the reciver part of your seat belt. Easy to replace it you have the right tools(sometimes its a regular bolt, sometimes its a torx).

In any case you need to get it fixed. The airbag system will not activate if it does not see the seat belt done up.
