Yea I did the retaining wall block thing. Had about 1300 pounds worth of blocks and sand. I have the V8 and it hauled it like there was nothing in the bed. According to dodge these trucks with the V8 and auto trans can tow 7,000 pounds which is what most full size trucks can do. I'll bet the V6 can do pretty well. I had a 1994 chevy silverado with the 4.3L V6 and hauled 2000 pounds of sand. I had a 5 speed manual and it hauled it fine. The back end was sagging like crazy and I could only go as high as 3rd gear But it made it up every hill I had to climb.

If you have a strech strap, you can get a good run and jerk them right out.

We Call that a "recovery" Strap

i hauled 1500 pounds of mulch in my 1988 dakota... the motor had no trouble at all but when it came to steering the truck had a mind of it's own.
