Do you mean replace the Timing belt, water pump, and tensioner pully, or just having them checked out? Doing a little investigating in the engine bay today after head unit install, and I might be able to check that stuff out myself.

White26golf your truck look awsome. I see in your sig that you have the leveling kit but in the picture the truck seems to sit pretty high to me for just the leveling kit. What size tires and wheels are you running?

The timing belt should be replaced about every 100k or so, neon engines are interference engines, meaning if the timing belt breaks, you WILL bend some valves, and, depending on the engine speed, damage the entire engine. The timing belt is actually really easy, just a little time consuming. Just go to the parts store, ebay, or whatever and get the parts. When I did mine, I got the Goodyear gator back timing belt, (29.99) and a reman water pump (23.00) from advance auto parts, and I really should have done the pulley but I didn't. The reason you replace the water pump is because they tend to not last much longer than the timing belt, and if that goes bad, usually it will break the timing belt. The bearings in the pulley can also go bad leading to premature timing belt failure. I would hate to see you start modding the thing, cranking out some power then have the timing belt snap. If you decide to do the the timing belt, you will need the chrysler/mitsu crank damper puller from autozone loan a tool service. Trust me, there is no other way to get this thing off...

White26golf your truck looks SWEET!!! i got a few questions... what size tires? and it says in your sig 3.92 gears... why go with those instead of 4.10's from what i read in the 4x4 mags and all off road mags it your changing gears and what not go with the 4.10's over the 3.92's. is it cheaper for the 3.92's? I'm just inquiring cause once i get back from Iraq in may my truck will be getting transformed like yours.

I have 265/70 17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. Actually, there isn't that huge a difference in performance between the two gears, but there is a difference in the gas mileage afterwards. I was just more comfortable with the MPG I would get from 3.92 as opposed to 4.10. Oh, and later today I will have my front grille paint matched. The Bumper is done, but want to put that and the Fog lights on at the same time......don.t want to ride around with just empty spots for the fogs.

yeah well actually....the 1st Gen Neon...AEM Makes a True CAI without having to Re-locate the battery as you would have to do with the K&N. And it works great...got buddies with neons...but 2000 is second gen. Not bad...have alot more mods than 1st gen..

Yep, I still have both kits in the front. No issues with it yet. And yes there are a lot more upgrades for 2nd Gens. Just got through yesterday doing a little tune up.....valve cover gasket, oil changes, spark plugs, wires, blaster coil, and air filter.....runs really smooth. Today is going to be wheels and tires, and I have new headlights and Silverstars that should be here tommorrow. Then comes exhaust, intake, and midrise spoiler. Oh, will be getting a fresh coat of paint on Thursday too. Is that too much? lol

If you don't mind telling how much is it costing you to have the front grill paint-matched?
