2008 Flex Fuel V-8 in NY?
Dealer says you cannot order a 2008 Dak with the flexfuel 4.7 V8 in New York. The units he has in stock have 4.7 V-8 but no flexfuel sticker on them. Question is...Is this the new 302HP version that simply can't get aprroved for ethanol or last year's lower output version?
Any one out there have info on this? the dodge web site & brochure are useless!

Good question, dude. I have no idea but would be interested to find out myself.
I haven't looked into the flex-fuel vehicles because I'm not in the market to buy. But I think they are built to run on any or all of the current fuel platforms available today. Plain old gasoline, E85, 80/20, or whatever. With that being the case, methanol is a cleaner/colder burning fuel that has a higher octane than the gasoline we buy at the pump, which would increase the performance output of the engine. You likely won't get as many MPG, but the ones you DO get are more fun to drive.
As far as not being able to buy a flex-fuel vehicle in NY, that doesn't surprise me at all that the Empire state would try to keep something with good possibilities from it's citizens.

From what I have read and even from dodge.comthe new 302 hp 4.7s are the only V8s that are offered unlike the07's, here is the inforight from dodge, http://www.dodge.com/en/2008/dakota/...mance/engines/
That being the case, that means the '08 4.7 running E85 should make more than the rated 302HP.
Also, I just found this. Take note of the small print at the bottom of the page naming the 4 states that flex-fuel vehicles aren't available. [&:]
