Added cruise switches...no cruise
I bought and installed the two cruise control switches in my 05, but have no glory. I will recheck the connections later tonite, but I'm pretty sure I installed everything correctly.
After further reading on this board and some others, it appears that not all Dakotas come with the cruise servo installed in the engine bay. I looked for it, but honestly, didn't really know what I was looking for.
Can someone with the V8 and cruise maybe take a picture for me so I can see if I do have it?
Those of you that installed just the switches, did anyone have to get the computer reflashed at the dealer? Or is the reflash only required when you install the switches and the servo?
Thanks guys..This quick and cheap upgrade has certainly taken a potentially expensive turn.

The control is located on the front passenger side fenderwell by the rad coolant jug, nder the airtube from the fender.
The cables run along the fender well to the passenger side of the firewall to the throttle body.

The crusie/speed control package for the 2005 and 2006 is #82209241 and is more than 2 switches,
it also has the "Servo unit". which I'm sure was not installed at the factory...........
Look at the rear of your throttle body and see if there are 2 cables...one goes into the firewall on the left side
the second one would go to the speed/cruise control servo, which if youfollow the cable wouldgo to servo in
the right front just behind the coolant recovery bottle. See the thumbnails that herkguy posted above
This web site belowshows it costing $182.25 + shipping

Since 07 throttles are electronically controlled, the throttle body already has a servo attached.
For 05 and 06, a servo would be necessary.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I don't have the servo. That really sucks.
Let me ask you this, my buddy has an 07 Ram 1500 without factory cruise. Will the steering wheel switches be plug and play for him? If so, I'll just sell him my two switches and then buy the kit for myself.
Also, how much can I expect the dealer to charge to reflash the computer to recognize the cruise control on my Dakota?
This is such a bummer, I was expecting it to work with just the switches.
