2005 Dakota Brake Issues
Ive got a 05 Dakota QC 4x4 with 30K on it.
I purchased used 8 months ago with 21K on it....no problems....til today.
Have ABS on the truck and came to a stop at a red light today....one of those lights you have to come to a "hard stop" at. As I hit the brakes....rear tires hit...but I didn't stop. My truck tried to stop but the brakes did this grinding thing....and then gave me 3 really hard jolts between the stops....anyone with any ideas??? Or am I nuts and this just normal??
Thanks

Well your not going nuts...and btw welcome to the forum. But yeah Actually that happened to me today, at one of those "hard stop" lights like you encountered. Its happened ot me alot. But I dont know why, the other guys in here can tell you. I always guessed since they're stock brakes, they'll grind the rotors, and then those jolts come in, still never figured out what the "jolts" where but yeah its happened to me too, but only at those "come to a dead stop lights, get a ticket or an accident situations" [:'(]
I think the problem is that the stock brakes on these trucks suck. My 06 has been babied and driven nothing but highway with rare hard stops made and my brakes are already frequently squeeling. I wish Dodge would just put some decent brakes on stock, and four wheel discs at that instead of drums.
Thanks for the info....gotta take it in for heated leather seat issues anyway. Went 2 weeks ago and got there...not purchased in town truck....and Dodge sent them the WRONG PARTS!!!![:@] WASTE OF EXPENSIVE GAS!!!!!
My brakes are squeaking all on there own. When I touch the brakes it goes away. Would seem opposite to me. I brought it in and they said nothing is wrong and pads look fine. Go figure.
Bring yours in though, because I had mine fully replaced over a year ago.
