Anyone know what was changed on the 08 suspensions?
ORIGINAL: Altair
I have heard a rumor that they started putting a better suspension under the front of the later '07's but like I said that's just a rumor. I'm not too hard on mine but I don't slow down to a crawl for small bumps and imperfect roads either. I've already blown 3 front shocks and had them replaced under warranty without ever taking the truck off the road or hitting any really nasty potholes.

You know, my 07 I havent really totally had a squishy boat like ride. I keep hearing this and I dont recall flopping around to much, I mean at 80 mph on the highway, and I hit a dip I can feel the squishy rebounding. I dunno if its the heavy duty suspension and the 18s or I need more miles under me?

CC, let me know how ya make out with with what shocks this truck has on it, I am kinda curious and I havent looked in to that much detail with it yet.

It is a later 07. Yeah I am not totally rough on the truck, but it doesn get used. The truck has only 6500 miles on it so it still. I would assume that the suspension is broken in.

Thanks for the VIN lghtngblt02, I finally just called them, they never did answer my quote request. But it would seem the 06-07 uses the same parts, the 08 does have different part numbers for the springs and shocks, the shocks are on national back order for both types.
I could tell that I was putting them out with my questions, but i did manage to get the part numbers for the 07'
2007 4x4 laramie crew cab part numbers for spings and shocks
Springs are 52855674AB $97.10ea
Shocks are 5174564155AF 155.00ea
Here is the deal though, I am familar with how Chrysler does there part numbers, the original part has a number then the series is the A the letter that follows that series letter is the revision letter. The springs are 1 st series but the B= second revision the shocks on the other hand would be sereis 1 but on there 5th revision with that last letter being an F.
So the kicker is, these are the parts you would get if ordered today, but they may not be exactly what yours came with.
At 155 ea. I would think there would have to be some aftermarket monroes or somthing that would be better for less money. The spring rates are most likely the key to the softer ride I would think anyway.

now can someone find out the spring and shock #'s for an 08? TRX is different, but at least one person in this thread has a TRX 08, maybe they can find out some #'s too ?
No problem. Good work
So is the rumor Altair heard true? Or are just the 08s different. Or is it the 08s are different from the 07s that are different from the 05s and 06s?

Talked with the service department to get a quote on the labor, they said 300-400.00. I am sure I can get these figures knocked down if I decide to do it, but as it is now were talking close to a grand parts, labor and tax. The service advisor told me that he has had complaints on the 05-06s for riding to stiff, that I might not gain anything by changing these out, and that I should find a used one somewhere to test drive and see if this is for sure what I want to do. He said the 07s were pretty stiff. Now I am real confused.
Well I will say that I blew one shock, had it replaced, then blew two in quick succession and had both of them replaced under warranty, it's been awhile since that happened and I haven't blown anymore so perhaps they put a newer revision in that's at least harder to blow.
Was his daily driver a 1970's Buick riding on stock shocks???
My local dealer back home has had a bunch of complaints about the front being too soft. When I blew both at once was actually after I put the TM leveling kit on. Dealer said it was a bit of a grey area but after all the complaints and seeing that the shocks were on national backorder they decided it was due to defective struts and warranteed them for me.

Well I had shocks replaced under warranty with the TM kit installed but I also had the dealer install the kit when they replaced the first blown shock so that probably helped me out.
