Gas overflow when filling up
Lately, everytime I fill the truck, not just put 10 or 20 in, the gas overflows. It does it when the pump is set on auto, or when I control it. I'm curious if it's a common problem, or it's me.
I was a pump jockey in high school, so I'm familiar with using a gas pump.
It was just slightly irritating until saturday when I filled it and then drove on the interstate. My check engine light came on 10 minutes into the drive and when I had it read it was a code regarding the fuel level being too high. I can only guess that the heat of freeway driving expanded the gas.
I'm pretty careful when I fill it up, but it still seems to dump gas nearly every time.
Just curious if anyone else has this problem.

Yeah, everything you stated is common. It bugged me at first too because my old truck and my car can have the pump click off once and still fit another gallon or so in them both.
I'm not topping off, just filling up. If the pump is filling on the lowest auto setting, it does it. I try to slow it way down myself when I think it's getting close, but it still does it sometimes.
