Default JBA HEADER question

Has anyone put headers on their trucks? I'm about to order the JBA shorty header for my 2006 Dakota 4X4 V8 Dakota. Does anyone know if it really adds power to the ride? some have told me it doesn't do much but make it louder others have told me that it'll help it alot. so looking for some advice with Dakota owners who have put headers on their trucks and to see what exactly i'm looking at Performance Gain wise! Thanks Guys

they wont do much unless you open up the y-pipe. you can cram as much air into the y-pipe as you like, but being it is so restricted you wont gain much. i went the cheaper route and left the factory manifolds and went with a larger y-pipe. much betterer. but if you want to spend 600 plus dollars and hours of install time go ahead. my larger y-pipe and install was 75.00

What did you get for a y-pipe and how much did the pipe itself cost you? Thinking of having mine done when I pull off the tip and paint it.

okay when you say make them bigger? like upgrade the size of the piping and leave the stock cats? and how do you get the 02 sensors to fit back up on the pipe? do you just weld it back up?? so your saying i won't see much difference in power if i just put the Headers on? and they havea great deal on them...they are only 350 for a set of JBA Stainless Steel shorty headers.

you are not gonna make the pipes so large that they wont fit, all you need to do is increase the sixe minimal, just enough to let it flow better. right now i think it was about 3/4 of an inch opening. i went 2 inch made one hell of a difference.
