Time for new Spark Plugs...

I have 30,000 miles on the truck, and I heard from most everyone that the plugs are usually shot at this point.

I dont want to have to replace them again in another 30,000 miles. Most engines today come with 100k plugs.

I want to get a good long life plug. I dont want bosch, i never had good results with them. Does autolite make a good 100k plug? Iridium or Platinum?

Any recommendations?

Oh, I have the 3.7L V6

the only type of plug these trucks like are the copper core, forget the plats and the iridium, garbage, most if not all of us are running the autolite 3923 plug. best you can get for our motors and at 14.00 for all eight you cant go wrong

yeah, for some reason these trucks just run better on copper... besides, 14 instead of 80... I would go with the autolights and just deal with the install myself. its not that bad.

champion makes a platinum equivilant to the stock plug that some of the guys in the 1st gen durango forum are using you could try them, or the champion truck plugs, theyl seem to both give good results as long as they are the champion brand(if not copper core) they seem to work ok, at least in the gen 1 ds

Hmm. thx for all the tips. I'd hate to put copper cores in, but I'll see. I think the truck idles pretty bad with the stock plugs from the start, i cant imagine much worse unless it stalls or somthing.

My idle wasnt bad to begin with, but it is smoother now with the autolights...

I think alot of teh problem is teh colplete lack of proper gapping from the factory...

The autolite single platinums are only 3.25 each. Thats a total of $19.50. the gap is either .044 or .035....some brands say 44 some say 35.

I can get NGK plats for even less.

The regular copper are 2.25 each, so its just $1 more.

I could get both copper and plats and if the plats dont work out ill just put the coppers in. If the plats DO work out, ill return the copper.
