Default Audio Questions

Hey guys, I have a slight handle on audio but not enough to know exactly what to buy. The only thing that I know I'm buying for sure is the Alpine iDA-X100 Digital Media Receiver. I don't want any heavy bass so I don't want any subs. I definately want better speaker performance. What do you guys recommend?

I had Inifinity Kappa components in my last car, excellent speakers, very good clarity. I'd notice subtle things in songs that I'd never heard before. The only bad about them (possibly) in your situation is they don't have a ton of bass, they're generally used with a woofer. What are you going for with your system anyway?

I just don't want any heavy bass, no subs, a nice set of components would do the trick i guess. I just want good crisp sound.

I would definitely go components, you will want an amp for a good set of components though. I had those Kappas in two vehicles, first one running off the head unit, second one off a 4 channel amp. The difference is night and day, they sounded great off the head but after amping them they really sang!

Have you considered a small SQ sub just for reinforcement? Even if you're not looking for heavy bass the right sub can really help the overall quality of the sound.

I have also heard very good things about Alpine's type R series components and JL Audio's Evolution ZR and Evolution C5 series components. I've been looking into these for my truck when I'm ready to do my system. Alpine has also released type X series components which should slot in above the type R's, I don't know much about those yet though, just that they exist.

Try elemental designs...
From what your saying they have speakers that will get you what you would like. I had them in my last car and I loved them.
