I did - I went with a Pioneer head unit with Polk Audio speakers in front and rear.
They were direct replacement, no modifications needed and the job was simple.
Tremendous difference in sound quality and it was cheap.
If I remember correctly everything was around $300.00 shipped from Crutchfield as they had a special on Polk at the time.

i went with a pioneer head unit also. put my amp between the rear seats because of the club cab. went to ebay for a speaker deal 104.00 for the door speakers and a nice set of boxed 6 x 9 that just sit on the rear seats. sony all the way around., next when i upgrade i will put all the amps in the bed. already have wiring there do to the nitrous set up.

Polk Audio db650 speakers all around.
MyGig headunit with Lockpick:

Future plans:
Rockford 360 or Alpine PXE-H650 or JL Audio CleanSweep between the MyGig and the amps
JL Audio HD series or Alpine PDX series amps (4 channel and mono sub)
JL Audio Evolution C5 or Alpine Type X 6 1/2" components all around
JL Audio 13w7 or 2x JL Audio 12w7 or 2x Alpine Type X 12" subs
Going to take me awhile to save up enough for the full setup.

Thanks!
I hooked it up using the Lockpick Adapter from Coastal Electronics Technologies, works very well although the antenna cable needs to be filed down a bit I think (they probably already fixed it, I preordered so mine was out of the first batch). At any rate that only affects radio reception.

I scored the MyGig for $100 on ebay, someone had bought it for his '08 Wrangler and it wouldn't turn on or do anything at all so he put it up for sale cheap. I looked into it and the Wranglers use a high-speed CAN-BUS whereas our Dakotas use a low-speed CAN-BUS. There are versions of the MyGig made for each speed and they're not interchangeable, they simply won't work on the wrong speed vehicle. So I took a chance assuming he'd bought a low-speed unit and turned out I was right. All told the MyGig and the adapter cost me a little over $350, it's easily my favorite mod. I've also noticed that the Polks sound much better running off the MyGig than they did off the stock radio. They're not amazing speakers but for what I paid for them and the beating they take on a regular basis (I like it on the loud side) they sound very good. Just wish they had more bass...
